Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour

Wild & Scenic Film Festival On Tour Returns to Houston for the Third Time in January 2017

Houston, TX – Building on our wildly successful showing in January 2016, the Citizens’ Environmental Coalition (CEC) is bringing The Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour, one of the largest environmental film festivals in North America, back to Houston for two nights: January 25 & 26, 2017, at the historic River Oaks Theatre!

The Festival consists of 24 short documentary films which speak to the environmental concerns and celebrations of our planet. Different films will be shown each night, and each night will include a local environmental story. Topics range from astonishing adventure and the beauty of the great outdoors to grass roots efforts to combat environmental injustice and other serious issues.

"Narrowing down the selection to fit the two nights was incredibly hard and we are heartbroken over some of the films that weren't chosen. But we have selected beautiful, educational and inspiring films that cover a variety of issues," says Executive Director Rachel Powers.

The Houston festival is a selection of films from the 4-day festival held each year in Nevada City, CA, by the watershed advocacy group, the South Yuba River Citizens League (SYRCL). Their National Partners—Patagonia, CLIF Bar, Earthjustice,Sierra Nevada Brewing, Klean Kanteen, Orion Magazine, Barefoot Wine, and KEEN—help make the festival available to environmentally conscious groups across the country. Hosting The Wild & Scenic Film Festival on Tour helps the CEC illustrate the Earth’s beauty, the challenges facing our planet, and the work communities are doing to protect our environment. The festival is a natural extension of CEC’s work to inspire people to act.
