Texas State University- Mutual Adoption Pact
The Mutual Adoption Pact (MAP) is a multicultural, intergenerational service organization that was established in 1997 with support from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Texas Long-Term Care Institute. Based upon like interests, needs, and time availability, college students are matched with elderly members of the community. Texas State University students will meet with their matched participant for a total of 15 hours throughout the Spring semester. Visits are weekly and typically last about one hour per week based on schedules. Typical activities include light cleaning, talking, playing games, exercising, community events, driving to appointments, shopping, decorating, and plenty other task. If you are interested in participating or know someone who may be, contact Stephanie Rodriguez at ServiceLearning@txstate.edu or call (361)834-3245 to get ahold of me outside the office.
The semester starts January 16th and partners will be matched by the end of January. If you have any questions, let me know and I will be happy to help!
