Making Historical Choices

The Dallas Jewish Historical Society (DJHS) will play host to Rabbi Ken Roseman on Wednesday, November 15, 2017, at the Aaron Family Jewish Community Center, 7900 Northaven Road in Dallas, at the kickoff event of the DJHS Annual Lecture Series.  The event is free to members of DJHS, $10 for non-members.  Reservations are requested at 214-239-7120 or at the DJHS website:  bit.ly/MakingHistoricalChoices.

Featured speaker, Rabbi Kenneth D. Roseman, is a graduate of Oberlin College and was ordained as a rabbi in 1966 at the Hebrew Union College – Jewish Institute of Religion in Cincinnati, OH.  He holds a Ph.D. in American-Jewish History and has taught at HUC, SMU and Texas A & M University-Corpus Christi.   Roseman served as a congregational rabbi in Madison, Wisconsin, at Temple Shalom in Dallas, TX and led Congregation Beth Israel in Corpus Christi until 2014.  In Corpus, he also serves as a major community leader, is sought after as a public speaker and continues to teach history.

A prolific author and educator, Rabbi Roseman has just uploaded a series of lectures entitled “The History of the Jews in America.”  The video lectures begin with the settlement of Jews in Spain during Roman times, discuss settlement of Jews in South and North America, continue through the 19th century and up to the present day.  The series can be accessed through YouTube.  Roseman’s lecture for the Dallas Jewish Historical Society will focus on the topic:  “Making Historical Choices.”
