Calder Woods adds services in $25.9 million expansion
A $25.9 million expansion at Calder Woods in Beaumont positions the senior living community as one of the largest in Texas.
The expansion on the 17-acre campus in west Beaumont adds new Garden Apartment Homes, a state-of-the-art Wellness Center featuring an indoor pool and bistro, plus new spacious suites in Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation.
“This investment of nearly $26 million in Calder Woods is more than an investment in buildings and expansion,” said Charlie Wilson, senior vice president of Buckner Retirement Services. “This is an investment in the lives of the residents who live here and in the Beaumont community.”
Buckner Retirement Services owns Calder Woods and five other senior living communities in Texas. Buckner has been serving the Beaumont community since 1970 through Buckner Children’s Village and since 2000 with Calder Woods.
Ben Mazzara, executive director of Calder Woods, said the expansion will allow the community to serve more seniors than ever before.
“We serve about 300 residents annually and many more are on waiting lists to move here,” he said. “That’s why we’re excited to add more options so we can serve many more seniors and their families for many years to come.”
Calder Woods provides a Complete Continuum of Living for seniors 62 and older, offering Independent Living apartments and townhomes, Assisted Living apartments, Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, and certified Memory Care. It accepts Medicare and private insurance benefits.
The faith-based community provides many amenities including restaurant-style dining, weekly housekeeping, transportation services, and a variety of social and recreational activities. A full-time chaplain provides weekly Bible study, prayer groups and Sunday worship services.
