Harris County Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program- Certified Volunteer Training

If you are looking to be an advocate for those in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, becoming a long-term care ombudsman is the place to start!This is your chance to be a resident's voice and help members of our aging community navigate the challenges of long-term care.Training classes will be broken up into two parts: Part I will be held Thursday, January 29th, 2026 from 9am-4pm, with the corresponding Part II held Thursday, February 26th, 2026, also from 9am-4pm. Both classes will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams.As a certified ombudsman, you will serve some of the most vulnerable individuals within our communities. We provide vital information and assistance to residents and families, as well as help navigate the seemingly ever-changing rules regarding the rights to visitation and care.
