Theatre Arlington Presents: AMON! The Ultimate Texan

Written by Dallas Morning News columnist Dave Lieber and starring Kelvin Dilks as the larger-than-life Amon Carter, this true-to-life production celebrates the wit, vision, and unstoppable spirit of the man often called “Mr. Fort Worth.” Through quick-fire humor, powerful storytelling, and a few of Carter’s own tall tales, audiences meet a Texas original who refused to think small — about his city, his state, or himself.
“Amon Carter was bold, funny, and relentless — and he built an empire by believing in Texas,” says playwright Dave Lieber. “We created this play to show how one man’s vision and humor helped define an entire region. It’s part history, part inspiration, and a whole lot of Texas pride.”
Directed by Connie Sanchez, AMON! The Ultimate Texan has delighted audiences in cities across North Texas and beyond with its mix of laughter, nostalgia, and “I didn’t know that!” moments. Whether you’re a lifelong Texan or new to the legend of Amon Carter, you’ll leave knowing why his name still echoes across the state — and why this play has become a word-of-mouth favorite.
Theatre Arlington is delighted to present this show as one of their “Season Extras,” opening the 2026 season with a Texas sized bang, sponsored by Shalyn Clark with State Farm Insurance.
Group Ticket rates for the show are available for parties of 10 or more.
AMON! The Ultimate Texan will open Friday, Jan. 9th at 7:00 pm and will close Sunday, Jan. 11th at 3 pm with the following schedule:
