Chronic Pain Self-Management - 6 week workshop

The Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop Series is structured as a six-week program, 2.5 hours per week.  Developed at the Stanford University Patient Education Research Center, it is designed to enhance regular treatment for people who have a primary or secondary diagnosis of chronic pain.  While the target audience is age 60 and older, everyone is welcome.

Some of the topics covered in the workshop include: 

  • Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration, fatigue, isolation and poor sleep
  • Appropriate exercise for maintaining and improving strength, flexibility and endurance
  • Appropriate use of medications
  • Communicating effectively with family, friends, and health professionals
  • Nutrition
  • Pacing activity and rest

The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is offering this workshop series on six Tuesday’s, March 5th – April 16, 2019 (with the exception of March 26th).  Each class will be 2 1/2 hours from 9:00 am – 11:30 am.  The class is limited to 18 participants.  The location is the Brenda Button Mills Senior Center, 301 Main Street, Little Elm, TX 75068.  There is no charge for any of the sessions.
