On November 8, the Community Council of Greater Dallas will hold their annual luncheon and fundraiser at The Statler. The program, themed A Fight Against Poverty, is designed to educate attendees on the poverty crisis in Dallas, recognize outstanding community leaders who are leading the fight and raise money to help the Community Council of Greater Dallas in their mission to move families forward, leaving poverty behind.

Since 1940, the nonprofit has convened with a network of more than 9,000 nonprofits, government agencies, private foundations, faith-based groups, local corporations and businesses across North Texas to implement and accelerate changes in impoverished communities while building a stronger spirit of collaboration. The Community Council of Greater Dallas helps families seeking assistance by providing access to healthcare, financial assistance and the necessary training required to advance economically.

In total, the agency serves over 500,000 requests annually for social services of all types. Community Council of Greater Dallas is the home of the Dallas Area Agency on Aging, which encompasses numerous services for seniors and the disabled including MyRIDE Dallas, Texas Healthy at Home and local implementation of an evidence-based strategic partnership with Stanford University for chronic disease management. They are also the lead agency for a highly successful Community Youth Development Program targeting post-secondary readiness and crime prevention and provide the local area 2-1-1 Information Referral Service. In addition, the agency provides healthcare navigator services for Enroll Texas, CHIP/Children’s Medicaid and several behavioral health interventions for youth, seniors and working families.
